These rules and guidelines describe acceptable and unacceptable ways to participate in a discussion in a VideoAdds forum thread.

Respect

Guideline: Show respect for other community members. Expect and accept that other users may have strongly held opinions that differ from yours. Practice basic human courtesy.

1. Name-calling. Name-calling falls into the category of insults and will be treated as such. You can disagree with the content of another member's statement, but you may not make negative personal characterizations about that member.
2. Insults. Slurs and insults against groups of people based on stereotyping and obvious generalizations fall into the category of trolling and will be treated as such.
3. Taunting. Mocking or taunting another forum member is not acceptable. Posts that ridicule another member will be removed and the forum member may be placed on moderation.

Self-Promotion

Guideline: Everyone is here to either purchase or sell something. There is a forum specifically designed to enable you to ask questions about a specific item. There should be no self-promotion in the other forums.

1. Spam. You may not use the forums for unsolicited advertising of your items or any other conduct that could be considered spamming.
2. Self-promotion items. They include posting links to your own items anywhere on the site, giving away free files to the community, and posting links to your design or social media channels on the forums. None of this is acceptable and you may be banned from the forums for postings of this sort.
3. There is a place for it! If you'd like to post a link to your item to get feedback or initiate a discussion on how to improve it, it may be posted in the "Item Discussion" section of the forums.

Good Community Participation

Guideline: Here are ways to participate in the VideoAdds community forums that will help everyone get the most out of the experience:

1. Becoming a community member. Get to know your fellow VideoAdds members! Help new users with their questions, be active, and share your feedback. Participating and affecting the community in a positive way will make this a better site for everyone.
2. Starting a thread. Before posting a new thread, please do a search and check recent threads from the past few days. It's possible that the topic has already been started. If a new thread repeats a topic previously discussed or debated, without basis for a separate discussion, the thread may be closed, removed, or merged into an earlier thread on the same topic.
3. Stay on track. We have the "Off Topic" section for random, fun topics. If you get a bit carried away in an unrelated thread, you may be placed on moderation and your comments removed.

Debate

Guideline: Look for ways to inform and learn from others.

1. Sources. If you claim that something's a fact, back it up with a source.
2. Repetition. If you repeat the same claims without adding new information, we might remove your posts.
3. Trolling. Posts that appear to be designed to cause argument or irritate rather than contribute to a constructive discussion are considered trolling and will be removed and the forum member may be placed on moderation.
4. Duplicate discussions. If a new thread repeats a topic previously discussed or debated, without basis for a separate discussion, the thread may be closed, removed, or merged into an earlier thread on the same topic.

Moderation

Guideline: Stay within the forum rules to preserve your forum community privileges.

1. Reporting. Members should report posts that are in violation of these rules to call moderators' attention to troublesome posts/posters.
2. Responsibility. You're responsible for your own behavior. If you think a post is inappropriate, report it, ignore it. If you respond to an inappropriate post in an inappropriate way, you will be placed on moderation.
3. Suspensions Forum members whose posts are removed for violating these rules may be placed on moderation. They may also be banned from the forums for repeated or serious rules violations.
