Tips for Better Sound Quality

A video's audio quality depends on how you record the sound. Many users use the built-in microphone on their computer, and that can be a problem, because it picks up all the sound in the room. That's bad because the sound quality of your voice or your music is compromised by any background noise, electronics, and static your camera or smartphone is picking up.

Solve the problem by using an external microphone: it almost always results in better sound quality. Since you can position the microphone near the source of the sound (your voice), it isn't picking up equally on other noise in the room. Many electronics stores sell inexpensive lapel-clip microphones for recording individual voices as well as USB microphones that are useful for music.

If you're still getting poor audio even with your microphone, it could be because you've been editing the piece too much. Every time you edit a video recording, the quality begins to deteriorate, especially if you're changing the sound (using special effects, etc.). The best audio comes from using video files that are as close to the originals as possible.

If you do need to edit, here's a tip for ensuring better audio quality: make sure that the audio and video tracks are the same length. What that means is that they should begin (and end) at the same time stamp.

Better audio will make your VideoAdds video look, feel, and mostly sound more professional. Why do you care?

Because in a bad video, the viewer is aware of the video; in a good video, the viewer is aware of the product or service you're selling.

Which would you prefer?
