Before, During, and After: How To Make a Great Video

So you think you're ready to shoot a video. Great! Here are some "best practices" for you to keep in mind:

  1. Before your recording: Prepare for the video before you start shooting by writing down a clear plan (and, if possible, a script to follow). Who or what is it that you're going to be talking to? How do you best approach your ideal customer? Think about physicality: where are you shooting? Does the area look cluttered or unprofessional? Limit both background visuals and background noise ahead of time.
  2. During your recording: Practice (a lot!) ahead of time, and don't be afraid to stop and start over if you make a mistake. While your iPhone is a great device, remember that sound is critical, and you may want to invest in a decent external microphone, especially if you plan to record more than one video.
  3. After your recording: You're not finished yet! It's going to be necessary for you to edit your video (or did you not say "um" at all?). You might want to add music or other sound effects. Take out anything that your ideal customer won't respond to, and make sure you include a "call to action"--in other words, tell people exactly how to buy your product or service.

There's no magic about getting good at shooting videos: it's all about practice, practice, and more practice. But following these basic rules will get you off to a great start! And don't forget the final step: upload your video on to VideoAdds.com!
