Creating a Description for Your Video Ad
Your description is a powerful tool in getting people on the site to click on your video--and in getting people who aren't on VideoAdds to come to the site and click.
On the other hand, too many people in writing descriptions think only about getting people in, by whatever means necessary. Don't use keywords that have nothing to do with your product or service. Don't promise something you can't deliver. Here are some good ways to create a description that's accurate and compelling:
1) Use action-oriented language. People respond to action words. Instead of starting with, "You'll like this lawn mower," try beginning with a verb: "Grab this great lawnmower now!" Other verbs you might use will depend on what you're offering--a massage therapist, for example, might begin with "relax," while a car mechanic will say "fix." Then follow up with a description of exactly what you're offering
2) Provide a solution (or benefit). Everyone has some sort of need; they wouldn't be looking for an object or service if they didn't. You've begun with an action word: now elaborate on how that action word is going to improve the potential buyer's life. Write a short sentence previewing your video's content. This is an additional chance to sell before you even get to the video!
3) Keep it short. Web pages' meta descriptions are usually under 155 characters. You can go a little longer than that here, but not by too much--the description is using keywords to bring people to your video.
4) Make it specific and relevant. Use descriptive language and keep it to the point. People who are searching don't take time to ready long, fluffy descriptions. Your best bet is to be clear, be concise, and be brief.
